Requesting a print quote - here's a quick checklist

Here is a list of the information you should consider including when submitting a print quote. If you are unsure about some of the specifications, then we can make a recommendation based on the product being printed.

What do you want printed?

We have several easy to use quote forms. Using the correct one will make sure we have the details we need.

How many do you need?

Let us know if you would like a cost for printing different quantities, for example 500 copies and 750 copies.

Please note that there is a minimum quantity. For most products it is 100 copies, for books it is 25 copies - see our product pages for more details.

How soon will you need it?

Based on your specifications we can give you an idea of the timescale required to complete the job. However it will help to know the following details:

  • Do you have a date that you need it delivered by?
  • Do you need a quick turn-around?
  • When will the artwork be ready? 

What is the finished size?

Specify the dimensions once the item is folded and trimmed. These are some of the most popular sizes, but we can quote on any size:

  • A4 (210 x 297mm)
  • A5 (148 x 210mm)
  • A6 (105 x 148mm)
  • DL (99 x 210mm)
  • Square (210 x 210mm)

What is the orientation of the finished document?

  • Portrait
  • Landscape

Number of pages?

If you are printing a folded leaflet, then list the total number of panels.

  • For example, 4, 6, 8 or 10.

For booklets, brochures and magazines then list the total number of pages (not sheets) and include the cover. These will need to be in multiples of 4.

  • For example, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 etc.

Full colour, spot colour or mono?

Most items can be printed in full colour throughout. However, if your product has internal pages that are monochrome, or you require specific Pantone colours then include this information.

Paper weight/thickness and material?

If your document contains images, then we would suggest using a white material with a high opacity. We can suggest a suitable paper stock from a range of sustainable (FSC certified) materials. Let us know if you require a specific paper type or weight.

Tell us if you want to use a different material or finish for the cover for products such as booklets and brochures.

Type of folding?

For a folded leaflet specify the type of fold required.

  • Single or half fold
  • Roll or trifold fold
  • Z-fold (Concertina)
  • Gate fold
  • Cross or French fold

How do you want them supplied?

  • Folded
  • Creased and supplied flat

Binding type?

For a document with multiple pages specify the type of binding required.

  • Case bound
  • Perfect bound
  • Saddle stitched (stapled)
  • Spiral or wiro-bound

Other finishes?

  • Die cutting
  • Drilling

How will you supply the artwork?

Our quote will be based on receiving a print ready pdf. If you plan to supply artwork in another format, such as an InDesign file with files and fonts, please tell us otherwise you may incur an additional charge.
